Daingean National School is a rural co-educational primary school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin.
While Daingean National School is a school with a Catholic ethos, children of other Religious denominations are welcome and their beliefs are respected.
Our Catholic ethos finds expression through the core values of our school and through our actions, attitudes and practices.
Religious instruction, in accordance with the doctrine and tradition of the Catholic church is part of the education given to children who belong to that church.
The pupils are prepared for the reception of the sacraments of First Penance, First Holy Communion and Confirmation, in accordance with arrangements in the diocese.
Prayer is a feature of the school day.
In Daingean National School RESPECT is our core value. Our school embraces a sense of fairness in our dealings with others and also forgiveness and new beginnings, a place where grudges are not held.
Our school aims to provide a safe, secure and happy learning environment for each child and to ensure a duty of care at all times when the school is in operation.
Pupils are constantly encouraged and affirmed, promoting self-esteem and confidence consistent with their uniqueness as individuals.
Staff members are sensitive to the needs and circumstances of each pupil. They are interested in the progress of the pupils and in developing their talents to their utmost potential.
While the school acknowledges the importance of academic excellence, it strives to contribute to all aspects of the pupils development – personal, physical, social, emotional, moral and spiritual.
A respectful pleasant atmosphere permeates throughout the school and high standards in all aspects of school life are encouraged and expected from every member of the school community.
Close contact is maintained between school and home. Parents/Guardians and teachers support one another in leading the children to the fullness of their potential at the different stages. We promote a Code of Behaviour that is firm but fair.
Ancillary staff in the school are held in high esteem. It is recognised that their work makes a valued contribution to the life of our school.
